Personal Statement/Reflection

-Express opinion about MDG implementation in nation

Pakistan is the country which has potential to establish and achieve its goals to end poverty and to become one of the developed countries in the world. Since it has been facing huge problem of killing in country especially in city Karachi and Province Khayber Pakhtunkhawa, which has ranked this country among those which are recognized as the site of killing, murders and a lot of deaths. Besides this, there are many other issues which participate to make its condition worse. Education is the top problem which needs to be fixed. Because most of the population of Pakistan lives in rural area, there is great number of kids who cannot get their education because of the fact that rural people have no access to better, clean and safe schools. MDG goal for Education is to provide primary education to both girls and boys. And because of this, the primary enrollment of students has increased which is a success. But still there needs to take more steps to decrease the unemployment rate which is high 5.6%. Since the economy of the country is growing at slower pace the implementation of all of the 8 goals is difficult to achieve for some goals for example maternal health and education. There are organizations, agencies and foundations which are working and spreading their messeges to bring awareness among nation in order to get rid of the 8 main issues.

-Most pressing issues/challenges facing your nation
Although there are schools in every village of Pakistan but still parents are unable to send their kids to schools to atleast get basic education because of the fact that the schools are in poor condition and many of the teachers are always absent. So the big issue with education is the absence of teachers and poor quality of education and schools. This issue is the challanging among all because it is difficult to maintain all rural schools around entire country. Besides this issue of education, people are also suffering from poverty a lot. There is a lot of inflation and as a result of that, the prices of food and everything has risen which have leaded to enhance the poverty in country.

-Most positive attributes and success stories in nation
Nation is making a great progress towards achieving the goals. There are many news stories which prove that Pakistan’s poverty issue is being resolved. The proportion of the popilation living below the poverty line is decreased from 34.5% to 24%. Primary schools enrolment rates have improved recently. There are now 3 million more childern in primary schools. Also progress has been made towardsthe target of reducing under five mortality rates by two thirds. Pakistan has the 6th highest number of maternal deaths per 100,000 births. Some progress has been made towards the acheivement of goal. Polio is amlost eradicated. HIV is very low among general poulation. Pakistan is on the track to provide improved water and sanitation. Global partnership is also on its track. Over the last few years, global partnership has been increased and agencies are strengthning their presence in Pakistan. In short, besides the weaknesses and challenges, Pakistan is still on its track to solve and handle various issues.
